Santo Domingo.- The Technological Institute of the Americas (ITLA) has announced the creation of a Semiconductor Technology program to support the country’s growing technology sector. This initiative aligns with President Luis Abinader’s decree 324-24, which prioritizes the promotion and development of the semiconductor industry in the Dominican Republic.
ITLA Rector Rafael Féliz García emphasized the importance of training professionals in semiconductor technology, a field critical to sectors like health, education, and the economy. He highlighted that this program will prepare students for careers in emerging industries such as artificial intelligence and electric vehicles while fostering collaboration with industry leaders to ensure up-to-date training.
The program aims to position the country as a leader in semiconductor manufacturing, attract investment, and generate high-quality jobs. The new program will equip students with skills in CPU design, microchip testing, and semiconductor module development, strengthening the Dominican Republic’s role in the high-tech sector.
