The reigning World Rugby Player of the Year showed he just could be the best rugby player in the world in 2024 too.
England took a two-point led in the first half, but Ardie Savea scored a try to give the New Zealand All Blacks a 10-7 lead in the first half and Damian McKenzie converted two penalty kicks in the second as the All Blacks narrowly beat England at Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin, New Zealand on July 6, 16-15.
The teams entered halftime tied 10-10, and Immanuel Feyi-Waboso gave England a 15-10 lead, but McKenzie converted two penalty kicks, including one in the 65th minute that gave the All Blacks the lead for good.
Maro Itoje also had an English try and Marcus Smith added five points, but he also missed a pair of penalty kicks and couldn’t convert after Feyi-Waboso’s try.
The match was the first major test win for Scott Robertson who took over for Ian Foster following a historic run with the Crusaders in Super Rugby.
The two nations will meet again at Eden Park in Auckland, New Zealand on July 13 in a match streaming on FloRugby and the FloSports app at 3 a.m. EST.
That match will be the final match before the All Blacks travel to San Diego to play Fiji.
