Austin Community College receives multimillion dollar federal grant for semiconductor training

The school was awarded $7.5 million from a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency grant.

AUSTIN, Texas — Austin Community College (ACC) is getting some more investment into its semiconductor training.

The school was awarded a new $7.5 million grant from a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) grant, which was awarded to ACC and partners in the Semiconductor Training Center – the University of Texas at Austin (UT) and the Texas Institute for Electronics (TIE).

UT and TIE provided funding to partners in the program, ultimately giving ACC funds to expand existing training programs and develop new ones.

Out of 18 academic institutions that were eligible, ACC was the only community college selected.

The new grant brings the amount of funding UT and TIE have awarded to ACC up to $11.25 million.
