Axiro Semiconductor Private Limited, a newly established subsidiary of CG Power and Industrial Solutions, part of the Murugappa Group’s business portfolio, has announced the opening of its fabless semiconductor design centre in Bengaluru.

Strengthening this commitment, CG Power and Industrial Solutions, Axiro’s parent company, recently invested $36 million, marking its formal entry into the semiconductor design business.

One of India’s first fabless semiconductor company operating at scale—with millions of ICs shipped monthly to global players like Ericsson, Nokia, Hughes and Siemens—Axiro is poised to address sectors, including 5G/6G, strategic defence, satellite communications and industrial IoT.

Incorporated in December 2024, the company has plans to develop specialised chip solutions for industrial and technology applications. Headquartered in Bengaluru, Axiro benefits from its parent company’s experience in industrial solutions and electrical equipment.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by prominent leaders from industry and government, including Sushil Pal, CEO of ISM; Vellayan Subbiah, Chairman of CG Power and Industrial Solutions (Axiro’s parent company) and Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Company; R. R. Tiwary, Representative from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY); Gauraw Srivastava, Representative from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT); Dr. Naveen Yanduru, CEO of Axiro Semiconductor; and Anshumaan Ravi Swaminathan, Non-Executive Director of Axiro Semiconductor.

Axiro’s fabless model enables a focus on chip design and IP creation while leveraging global foundries for production, ensuring rapid scalability, cost optimisation and high performance.

Its new Bengaluru facility is designed as a modern innovation hub, with advanced design labs, ergonomic collaborative spaces and expansion-ready infrastructure to accommodate a doubling of its R&D team in 2026.

Speaking at the inauguration, Sushil Pal, CEO of ISM, emphasised the national strategic importance of indigenous semiconductor design capabilities. “Axiro is a milestone for India’s semiconductor mission. It reflects the vision of self-reliance with global relevance,” he stated.

Alongside, Vellayan Subbiah, Chairman of CG Power and Industrial Solutions, stated that breakthrough innovations and an unwavering commitment to excellence will continue to propel Axiro Semiconductor forward. The company aims to deliver cutting-edge solutions for AI, automotive and IoT applications, further accelerating India’s integration into the global semiconductor value chain.
