Chhattisgarh set to host its first semiconductor plant, paving the way for 5G and 6G advancements | Raipur News – The Times of India
RAIPUR: India’s first semiconductor chip manufacturer is set to launch a semiconductor chip and advanced packaging unit in Chhattisgarh, amidst boost for deep-tech innovation by union government to promote tech industries in country. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai will lay foundation stone of semiconductor manufacturing unit scheduled on April 11 at 11 AM.
Chhattisgarh government will establish its first advance semiconductor unit – representing a significant investment worth Rs 1143 crore along with generating employment scope for the people in the state, said an officer.
The Chennai based Polymatech Electronics will set-up semiconductor plant in Nava Raipur to produce advanced technology of Gallium Nitride (GaN) semiconductor chips enabling working of 5G and 6G technologies in Chhattisgarh.
Highlighting potential for investment in the electronics and semiconductor sector Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said, “The policy support, tax incentives and infrastructure development being provided by the state government makes this sector attractive for investment. Chhattisgarh government is ready to provide special facilities to this sector under the Make in India and Digital India campaigns.”
In order to boost the next-generation telecom infrastructure and electronics sector in Chhattisgarh, the state government inked an invitation to invest with Chennai based Polymatech Electronics during Chhattisgarh investor connect in December 2024 in New Delhi.
Chhattisgarh government acted swiftly to ensure the smooth setup of the facility, minimizing any inconvenience for the company. As per officials from the Industry Department, the company was allotted land in Sector 5, Nava Raipur, through a tender process conducted by NRDA in less than 45 days. The lease deed registration was completed within 25 days from the date of land allotment.
The upcoming plant will be sprawled in 1,50,000 square-feet area in Nava Raipur.
“The initiative is expected to boost Chhattisgarh’s capabilities in global semiconductor manufacturing. Government’s policies, designed to attract high-tech manufacturing investments, along with proactive support, strengthen the state’s position for launching technological innovations,” said Rajat Kumar, Secretary of state’s commerce and industry department.
