In response to questions about whether China has asked the Netherlands to relax export restrictions of semiconductors after Dutch Foreign Affairs Minister Caspar Veldkamp met with Chinese officials in Beijing, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said that Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held meetings and talks with him respectively, and exchanged in-depth views on bilateral relations and issues of common concern. The two foreign ministers reached a consensus on six points, and the Chinese side has released news on the specific situation for reference.

On the issue of semiconductor export controls, Mao said the Chinese side has repeatedly stated its position. The semiconductor industry is highly globalized, and the formation of the production and supply chain is the result of market and corporate choices. For some time, some countries have generalized the concept of national security, abused export controls and long-arm jurisdiction, and seriously threatened the stability of the global production and supply chains, Mao said.

China and the Netherlands have strong complementarity in the semiconductor field and their cooperation is mutually beneficial and win-win. The two sides will maintain close communication through existing channels. China is willing to work with the international community, including the Netherlands, to adhere to openness and cooperation and jointly maintain the stability of the global semiconductor production and supply chain, Mao said.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Foreign Minister of the Netherlands Caspar Veldkamp in Beijing on Thursday.

Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said that China is willing to enhance communication with the Netherlands, deepen practical cooperation and strengthen multilateral collaboration, thereby making new contributions to the development of China-EU relations, the recovery of the world economy and the stability of global industrial and supply chains, reported the Xinhua News Agency on Thursday.

Both sides agreed to maintain close exchanges and deepen practical cooperation in such fields as economy and trade, science and technology, agriculture and water conservancy.

They agreed to maintain close communication concerning cooperation in multiple fields, including semiconductor technology, via existing channels.
