Construction worker at Phoenix TSMC semiconductor plant hospitalized with serious injuries

A construction worker at a Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company plant was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to the area of 43rd Avenue and Dove Valley Road in north Phoenix the afternoon of June 30 and were preparing to perform a technical rescue before canceling it after learning the worker was easily accessible, according to department spokesperson Capt. Rob McDade.

A TSMC spokesperson said the company was aware of the incident.

“This afternoon an Arizona site construction worker was in an accident and suffered broken bones. This person was treated on scene and promptly transported to the hospital for further treatment,” the company said in a statement. “We wish the injured worker a full and fast recovery. TSMC’s top priority is the safety and welfare of everyone who works on our site. We are in contact with our construction contractors and looking into this situation.”

It was not immediately known how the worker was injured, as of June 30.
