AI semiconductor company DeepX will begin volume production of its first-generation AI semiconductors. The company has signed a mass production contract with Samsung Electronics’ foundry design house, Gaonchips, to mass produce DX-M1, a 5-nm semiconductor.
DeepX received a sample of DX-M1 from Samsung’s Foundry Business Division in June this year and conducted a number of mass production verification tests on the chip to validate its performance.
Gaonchips’ customers include fabless companies that develop high-value-added products such as AI semiconductors. It is one of the leading Korean design houses with a wealth of experience and skilled technology across an entire semiconductor process including leading-edge process technology.
Deepx has built prototypes with multi-project wafers (MPWs) utilizing Gaonchips’ and Samsung Foundry’s 5-, 14- and 28-nm processes. It has provided AI semiconductors and software development tool DXNN to more than 120 global companies in the United States, Greater China, Europe, and Japan. Of these, more than 20 companies are currently in application development stages.
To meet market timing, DeepX has been testing compatibility with various standard interfaces and form factors required by the semiconductor industry. DeepX expects to begin mass production and development collaboration with 10 global corporate customers in the second half of this year, and more than 20 corporate customers in the first half of 2025.
