England recovered to edge Wales 16-14 in a tight contest at Twickenham.
The visitors were first to score when they were awarded a penalty try in 17th minute after England had collapsed a rolling maul.
Ben Earl quickly replied with a try for England, but George Ford failed to convert it after being charged down.
Just before the break, Alex Mann finished a well-worked try to give Wales a 14-5 half-time lead.
England were gaining momentum when Fraser Dingwall scored a try in the corner to cut the deficit to just one point.
Wales were down to 14-men for the final ten minutes after Mason Grady was shown a yellow card for a deliberate knock-on.
George Ford kicked the resulting penalty to give England the lead for the first time in the match.
