England head coach John Mitchell has named a training squad before the Women’s Six Nations. The official squad will be announced on 11 March but this is a good indication of who the new boss has on his radar.
Emily Scarratt is involved for the first time since the Rugby World Cup after recovering from a neck injury.
Poppy Cleall has also been named. The 65-cap back row was the only contracted player not to be included in earlier training camps but her club form has earned her a recall into camp.
Bristol’s Abbie Ward is also amongst the names, less than a year after giving birth to her daughter. Also in the forwards is captain Marlie Packer, who is set to win her 100th cap during the 2024 Women’s Six Nations as she is currently on 99.
