Firstly, French President Emmanuel Macron is set to host German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Meanwhile, impeached South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol has been summoned by a parliamentary committee as a witness in a hearing on a martial law declaration case.

Emmanuel Macron to meet German Chancellor Olaf Scholz

French President Emmanuel Macron is set to meet German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. The discussions are expected to focus on preparations for the European Union summit set for February 1 in Brussels, covering topics such as the situations in Ukraine and the Middle East.

The meeting is a tradition of Franco-German cooperation that marks the anniversary of the Elysee Treaty. The treaty was signed between the two nations on January 22,  1963. The upcoming talks underscore the ongoing commitment of France and Germany to collaborate on key issues affecting Europe, reinforcing their role as pivotal players in shaping the continent’s future.

Yoon Suk Yeol summoned by parliamentary committee

Impeached South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol is likely to appear before South Korea’s parliamentary special committee today in connection to his botched martial law declaration, reported news agency IANS.

Yoon and 75 other officials, including former defence and interior ministers Kim Yong-hyun and Lee Sang-min, have been  called as witnesses. According to IANS, the special 18-member committee was launched late last month to look into Yoon’s insurrection allegations until February 13.

PM Modi to interact with party workers for ‘Mera Booth Sabse Majboot’ programme

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to connect with Bharatiya Janata Party booth-level workers in the national capital via the Namo application. The initiative is part of the party’s campaign efforts ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections.

According to the news agency ANI, the event will kick off with the slogan “Mera Booth Sabse Majboot” (My Booth is the Strongest). With voting in Delhi scheduled for February 5, Prime Minister Modi will address the Mera Booth Sabse Majboot programme ahead of the elections.

Samsung set to launch Galaxy S25 series

Samsung will unveil its GalaxyS25 series today. The company is expected to launch four new models including
Galaxy S25 Ultra, Galaxy S25+, Galaxy S25 and the Galaxy S25 Slim, a first from the Galaxy S line-up.

According to Moneycontrol, the Galaxy S25 is expected to feature a 6.2-inch display along with a 4000mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging. It will contain a 50-megapixel sensor along with a 12-megapixel ultra lens as well as a 10-megapixel telephoto camera.

T20 India series to begin in Kolkata

The first game of the
five-match T20 series between India and England will be played at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens Stadium.

Key members of India’s Test team are Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant while the highlight of the squad is pacer Mohammed Shami.

The Eden Gardens is known for providing pitches that are batting-friendly. Dew will play a big role in the match.
