Gov. Kotek’s plan to designate rural Oregon land for semiconductor research ignites passions in Hillsboro
Oregon’s aspirations for growing its technology industry ran up against the state’s passion for land preservation Thursday night.
More than 200 people turned out in downtown Hillsboro to air their feelings about Gov. Tina Kotek’s proposal to add 373 acres of farmland just outside the city into the Portland region’s urban growth boundary. Dozens of conversationists rallied to oppose her plan, while public officials, business leaders and property owners turned out in force to testify in support of the additional industrial land.
