Forcing his way into England team
Having made his England debut in the opening 27-24 victory in Italy, Feyi-Waboso has gone from strength to strength and now is ready to make his first start. Pressure grew on Borthwick to hand the youngster his opportunity after an impressive cameo against Scotland.
He came off the bench to score his first England try at Murrayfield and his displays in few minutes have forced Borthwick to break the mould and trust the youngster, despite previously admitting that he wants continuity in his lineups.
“So far in this Six Nations he’s (Feyi-Waboso) progressed brilliantly and he’s earned this selection,” Borthwick explained. “I think the blend of players is important. Manny came on the field two weeks ago and had an incredible impact. He’s a player who wants the ball, wants to carry the ball and get the team over the gain line.
“Basically we think he’s one of those people who is good at everything. We’re yet to find something he’s not good at, but we’ll keep trying.”
Captain Jamie George is in no doubt that the winger is ready to make an impact against the runaway Six Nations team on Saturday despite his lack of experience.
“Manny’s ready – he’s more than ready,” added George. “You’ve seen that in the time he’s had on the field so far in the Six Nations. He’s an incredible talent, but the maturity we’ve seen from Manny is something that’s impressed me a lot.”
