WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WSBT) — A major chip manufacturer is coming to Indiana.
Governor Eric Holcomb announced that South Korea-based company “’SK Hynix’” will be building a plant in West Lafayette.
The 430,000 square foot plant will cost nearly $4 billion dollars to build.
“SK Hynix will soon be a household name in Indiana. This incredible investment demonstrates their confidence in Hoosier workers, and I’m excited to welcome them to our state,” said Senator Todd Young.
It will be located at Purdue University’s Research Park.
The company says it picked West Lafayette because of Indiana’s resilient manufacturing infrastructure.
This will now be the eighth company to establish a semi-conductor manufacturing plant in the state.
