BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Quebec businesses want in on Vermont’s budding tech hub.
Officials from the state’s Agency of Commerce say they’ve entered an international agreement to strengthen what they call Vermont’s “vibrant semiconductor industry”.
Several Quebec organizations and the University of Vermont are in on the deal to establish the northeast semiconductor manufacturing corridor as a hub for innovation and advanced manufacturing.
The goals are to increase coordination, facilitate trade, develop a resilient supply chain, and position the region as a global leader.
The Agency of Commerce says semiconductors are Vermont’s leading commodity export. In 2023, the industry sold $650 million worth of semiconductors to buyers around the world.
