Syracuse, N.Y. — The U.S. Department of Defense has awarded a $27.4 million grant to boost semiconductor and other technology research and workforce training at Upstate New York universities and research institutions.

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer, D-NY, announced the grant Wednesday for the New York-based Northeast Regional Defense Technology Hub (NORDTECH).
