Silectric Semiconductor Manufacturing Pvt Ltd will invest ₹3,425.60 crore in Karnataka’s first electronics manufacturing cluster at Kochanahalli in Mysuru.
The investment will create 460 jobs. The 64th State High-Level Clearance Committee (SHLCC) chaired by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, where 10 proposals worth a total of ₹9,823 crore were approved across various industrial sectors in the State, which are expected to generate ₹5,605 jobs.
While three of these are new proposals, the remaining six involve expansions or amendments to existing plans. Apart from the Silectric Semiconductor, the approved new projects include DN Solutions India Private Ltd’s ₹998 crore investment at the ITIR, Devanahalli, expected to create 467 jobs; and Sansera Engineering Ltd’s ₹2,150 crore project at Harohalli, which is estimated to create 3,500 jobs.
Additionally, there are six existing investment proposals worth ₹3,249.7 crore, which are expected to generate 1,178 jobs.
The six expansion or amended projects include Musashi Autoparts India Pvt Ltd’s ₹122.66 crore investment at Doddaballapura, creating 478 jobs; JSW CementLtd’s ₹486.82 crore project at Toranagal, Ballari, generating 225 jobs; NIDEC Industrial Automation India Private Ltd’s ₹200 crore project at Belur, Dharwad, creating 150 jobs; Epsilon Carbon Pvt Ltd’s ₹740 crore expansion at Sandur, generating 325 jobs; K B Steels Private Ltd’s ₹852.49 crore investment at Hosapete, Vijayanagara; and Sify Data Managed Services Ltd’s ₹847.74 crore project at the High-Tech Defence and Aerospace Park.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced that the first semiconductor project in the State would be established at the Kochanahalli Electronics Manufacturing Cluster near Mysuru. He further added that the government is exploring the possibility of profit-sharing between sugar mills and farmers.
The government had earmarked 234 acres of land at Kochanahalli, near Kadakola in Mysuru, for the electronics manufacturing cluster (EMC) and semiconductor units. Karnataka is also planning to roll out a new Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) policy.
